Fisichella holds his own with the leaders at Suzuka

In the Japanese Grand Prix on the difficult track at Suzuka, Giancarlo Fisichella fought a good race despite a tricky session of official testing that saw him having to start from the back end of the grid. It was a good race for the formula 1 driver from Rome both in terms of an improved performance as well as consistantly recording lap times close to his team mate Raikonnen who came in 7th.

At the end of the race, following his 12th place finish, the OIKOS ambassador was confident for the remainder of the season: "My feeling with the F60 has improved – Fisichella declared to the gathered press – during the race my rythm was the same as the others and things are continuing to improve. The kers? It gave us some help, but the 7th gear was too short and it was impossible to overtake".

During the Grand Prix, Fisichella also had to take into account a somwehat risky manouvere by Kovalainen at the exit from the pit lane after the 2nd pit stop that prevented him from improving his final race position.
